With a very promising future in Los Angeles for years to come, the overall lineup build remains a question as the Dodgers have been adding pieces in every position. Their outfield, however, is made up of a good mix of young stars and longtime veterans. So, how will all these pieces fit in three outfield spots?
Firstly, the outfield is led by young star James Outman, followed by newly acquired Teoscar Hernandez, and a mix of Jason Heyward and Manuel Margot to round it out. Since Mookie Betts is now going to be spending the majority of his time in the infield, he is more out of the outfield mix.
Outman secured a spot on the team last year by taking advantage of an opening caused by Gavin Lux's spring training injury. He settled in as the team's starting center fielder, and while his defense got better as the season went on, his offense was inconsistent and prone to extended slumps.

The 2x Silver Slugger Teoscar Hernandez joined the Dodgers as part of their offseason expenditure, signing a contract for $23.5 million for one year. Putting an additional All-Star bat in the lineup of a club that is undoubtedly a top contender for the World Series is a perfect move for the Dodgers. Hernandez is likely to play either left or right field and be "an everyday guy."
Outfielder, Jason Heyward, returned to blue and white for a $9 million one-year contract in 2023. Heyward responded strongly for Los Angeles last season, hitting .269 with 15 home runs. The left-handed hitter also filled a team role at first base and all three outfield positions.
Manuel Margot was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in a four-player trade. This Los Angeles outfield strengthened greatly with the arrival of Margot, but they may yet add more players in the future. Margot is experienced at all three outfield positions as well, although his primary position with the Rays has mostly been center field. As a right-handed batter, he can support James Outman in center field and work with Jason Heyward in right.
With multiple players performing outstandingly well, the Dodgers outfield will be a thrilling watch this season.
