10. Gleyber Torres
2024 Stats: .257/.330/.378, 15 HR, 63 RBI (154 G)
2024 Accolades: Silver Slugger Finalist
Among AL second basemen last season, Gleyber Torres held the second highest on-base percentage (.330) and OPS (.708), trailing just Jose Altuve in both. While those marks were impressive, Torres' .257 batting average and other offensive stats remained fairly modest. With his tenure with the Yankees ending, Torres is heading to join the Detroit Tigers. At 28, a change of scenery — and the freedom to grow a beard —could be just what he needs to refine his game and unlock his full potential.
9. Brandon Lowe
2024 Stats: .244/.311/.473, 21 HR, 58 RBI (107 G)
2024 Accolades: N/A
Despite playing in just 107 games last season, Brandon Lowe's put together a strong 2024 campaign. If placed among qualified second basemen in 2024, Lowe's .473 slugging percentage would lead AL second basemen. Additionally, his 21 home runs and .784 OPS would rank third among all second basemen, making his power and productivity at the plate evident.
8. Ozzie Albies
2024 Stats: .251/.303/.404, 10 HR, 53 RBI (99 G)
2024 Accolades: N/A
Ozzie Albies played the fewest games among the top-10 last season, appearing in just 99 games due to battling injuries for part of the year. Despite the setbacks, the 2023 All-Star continued to deliver consistent offensive production for Atlanta. Heading into 2025, the switch-hitter aims to stay healthy and maintain his consistent form at the plate.
7. Andrés Giménez
2024 Stats: .252/.298/.340, 9 HR, 63 RBI (152 G)
2024 Accolades: Gold Glove Winner
Andrés Giménez continued to make his mark as one of the best defensive infielders in the MLB by winning his third straight Gold Glove at second base. He is one of two AL players that hold an active streak of three straight Gold Gloves (Steven Kwan). On the offensive side among AL second basemen, Giménez tied for the third most RBI with 63 and recorded 30 stolen bases, the most among AL second basemen, for the second straight season. He is the only active second baseman to steal 30 bases in the past two seasons. Being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in December, Giménez looks to keep up his defensive consistency in the Lumberjack Country.
6. Luis García Jr.
2024 Stats: .282/.318/.444, 18 HR, 70 RBI (140 G)
2024 Accolades: Silver Slugger Finalist
Luis García Jr. had the best offensive season of his career in his fifth year in the majors. Every category in his slash line — .282/.318/.444 — were the highest marks he has achieved in a single season. Among all second basemen, García's slugging percentage (.444) ranks second and batting average (.282) and OPS (.762) ranks third. He also drove in 70 RBI, the third most among all second basemen. In the NL, García's 18 home runs were the second most among second basemen. His consistent offensive performance is crucial for a Nationals team that relies heavily on young talent.
5. Brice Turang

2024 Accolades: Gold Glove Winner, Platinum Glove Winner
Brice Turang became the first player in Milwaukee Brewers history to win the Platinum Glove, and the first middle infielder in the franchise to win the Gold Glove since Hall of Famer Robin Yount in 1982. Offensively, Turang posted par numbers, slashing .254/.316/.349 with seven home runs and 57 RBI. What set his offense apart though was his speed on the base paths. He led all second basemen with 50 stolen bases, ranking third in the MLB. His sprint speed of 29.3 feet per second puts him in the 94th percentile per Baseball Savant. His speed also allowed him to tie with the most triples among second basemen with four.
4. Nico Hoerner
2024 Stats: .273/.335/.373, 7 HR, 48 RBI (151 G)
Nico Hoerner has made a name for himself by showing consistency and reliability at the plate. Over 151 games in 2024, he led all second basemen with 35 doubles and ranked second in hits with 159. After a third-place finish in the AL MVP voting in 2023, Marcus Semien's 2024 season experienced a dip, but his performance still remained one of the best at his position. He was the only AL second baseman to be named a Silver Slugger finalist, Gold Glove finalist and All-Star reserve all in the same season. He also led all AL second basemen with 23 home runs and 74 RBI. Additionally, his 50 extra-base hits and .391 slugging percentage ranked him second among AL second basemen. Semien's well-rounded profile keeps him in the top three.
2. Jose Altuve
2024 Stats: .295/.350/.439, 20 HR, 65 RBI (153 G)
2024 Accolades: All-Star Starter, Silver Slugger Winner
In his 14th season in the majors, Jose Altuve maintained his dominance at second base, earning his seventh career Silver Slugger Award. He also started in the All-Star game for the sixth time out of nine career selections. He led all second basemen in batting average (.295) and total hits (185). Among AL second basemen, Altuve held the highest on-base percentage (.350), slugging percentage (.439) and OPS (.789), further cementing his reputation as one of the premier players in the league.
