This offseason, the Dodgers have been the busiest team in the league, but they're not quite done. In fact, Los Angeles may have a busy week ahead of them as pitchers and catchers report on Thursday.
With their bullpen nearing completion, the Dodgers completed a trade that sent lefty Caleb Ferguson to the Yankees, in exchange for left-hander Matt Gage and righty pitching prospect Christian Zazueta Jr.
The Dodgers had a bullpen position open after Ferguson left for New York, and they soon filled it by signing veteran right-hander Ryan Brasier to a 2-year, $9 million contract.
Ferguson was a key part of the Dodgers' starting rotation last season, making 68 appearances, including seven starts as an opener, with a 3.43 ERA. However, the left-hander struggled to perform well against left-handed hitters or in highly leveraged situations.

In contrast, Brasier played an important part in the Dodgers bullpen's remarkable comeback in the second half. In an attempt to restart his career, Brasier signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers after being released by the Red Sox. Clearly, he was able to accomplish it.
During his time at Camelback Ranch, the 36-year-old right-hander worked on developing a cutter that would help him counter left-handed hitters. When Brasier perfected this, he was almost unstoppable. Throughout the course of the Dodgers regular season, Brasier made 39 appearances and gave up just three earned runs in 38 2/3 innings. With Los Angeles, Brasier had the best 39-game stretch of his Major League career with a 0.70 ERA.
Brasier will once more be included among the Dodgers' most valuable relievers now that he's back. Though Brasier and Joe Kelly are also options for the Dodgers, Evan Phillips and Brusdar Graterol are anticipated to pitch the majority of the eighth and ninth innings.
The Dodgers might need to make space on their 40-man roster for Gage and Brasier, which may require making some other changes.
However it plays out, this club is full with exceptional pitchers who are hopeful to kick-start yet another World-Series appearance.
